TRAINING COURSE IN EUROPEAN PROGRAMMES AND PROJECTS DEVELOPMENT

 

OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE

The training courses aim to provide support to any individual interested in presenting a successful project as well as to give participants management tips regarding European projects, with the clear objective of facilitating removal of hurdles, fully exploitation of applicants’ potential and access to knowledge. The objective is therefore to equip the learners of the knowledge and tools necessary to enable them to acquire the skills necessary to obtain European funds suited to their activities and to learn how to submit to the Commission projects eligible for funding.

The course’s program develops competencies and skills for initiating and implementing projects satisfying the highest quality criteria and understanding stakeholder issues that enable high impact and sustainability. The course will explore the different type of EU financial supports, through the EU direct funding through grants or indirect funding via financial intermediaries. The course aims to train an innovative professional figure, with multi-skilling, able to analyse and implement projects with European funds, understand the difference between the various direct and indirect management programs of the European Commission. A professional able, therefore, to identify among the possible sources of funding and the opportunities offered by the European Union ones that are more suitable to finance and promote development and innovation projects.

TARGET GROUPS

This blended learning course is designed for private and public managers and officials preparing to assume EU responsibilities, EU affairs professionals, and people needing to quickly acquire a comprehensive familiarity with how EU programs work.

TOPICS OF THE COURSE

The course’s program is organized in 5 main modules:

MODULE 1 – INTRODUCTION – HOW EU PROGRAMMES WORKS getting to know the challenges and obstacles on the path to EU funds

MODULE 1 – DEVELOPMENT POLICIES AND PROGRAMS FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT BY THE EUROPEAN UNION

  • Cohesion Fund, Structural Funds, national operational tools, regional operational plans
  • Direct and Indirect Funds
  • Development policies of the European Union and main principles
  • Networks, permanent partnerships, involvement and consultation of non-EU actors and instruments, institutional.
  • Overview of directly managed programs and Community programs
  • Co-financing of a project
  • Sources of official and unofficial information

MODULE 3 – PROGRAMS AND FUNDING INSTRUMENTS BY THE EUROPEN COMMISSION
(Cosme – Horizon 2020 – European Territorial Cooperation – Erasmus plus – Creative Europe – EASI – Life – Balkan Mediterranean – Interreg Europe –Danube program –Black Sea – CBC – Eurostars)

MODULE 4 – PRODUCE EFFECTIVE PROJECT IDEAS AND STRUCTURE THEM IN WORK PACKAGES – Produce project ideas using different sources of inspiration, Structure the project idea in work packages, describe the work packages in the application form and develop a chronogram of
project’s activities and outputs.

MODULE 5 – PARTNER SEARCH AND PRELIMINARY KNOWLEDGE TO SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION: How to reach the right attention, Find, choose and negotiate with the most suitable project partners, assign tasks to every partner and answer to the questions about the consortium in the application form. Know how the application forms are structured, know the parts of every project and their evaluation criteria AND know the time steps in submitting projects and filling the application forms.

EXPECTED RESULTS

The participants who attend the training course will acquire the skills to:

  •  To search, find and select the most appropriate call for proposal.
  • Manage contractual procedures with the European Commission and national agencies.
  • Organize and plan the project work for a successful implementation of the project activities and for achieving the expected project’s results.
  • Organize and manage the project partnership, monitor its work, prevent and address conflicts.
  • Monitor the project development, assess and evaluate the quality of its outcomes, deal with possible risks.
  • Create and deliver project reports both for internal and external purposes.
  • Organize and manage the financial and administrative issues of the project, as well as check the eligibility of costs.

TRAINING METHODOLOGY

The training consists of classroom training with lectures to provide participants with the necessary knowledge, with continuous and constant practical  xercises to compare experiences of the various participants and experience acquired in the classroom, making the operating theory with practical experience.

The teaching approach involves the active participation of participants. Lectures, will take turns to concrete, practical examples and exercises to directly apply the techniques and concepts taught.

Every step will be explained with examples of approved proposals and discussed in working groups and question and answer sessions. A practical simulation will be carried out for each topic in focus during the course. The objective of the practical activities is the simulation of the management of the different aspects of a project. The different topics of the course will be formulated in the classroom through the analysis of a potential project idea, of a specific European program and a specific call for proposal, which will represent 'the common thread of activity' theoretical teaching and allow trainers to explain and clarify all crucial points of EU policy and understanding of European programs as well as of potential project proposals.
